The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational is deeply honored when each season guests & performers from all realms within Asian culture fandom request to appear & interact with "the world's most extreme fusion festival". With "Returning Legends", TAKII fans are given more of a reason to rejoice when some of their favorite musicians, industry professionals, & celebs from past seasons of TAKII come back for yet another round of celebratory excellence! It's no secret that "star power" seems to be a heavily-respected component to many other like-minded events & conventions, compelling con-goers to attend just because their favorite personality will be "there". When it comes to TAKII, however, that energy works in reverse & reciprocal order, with guests & performers desiring to attend additional seasons of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational just as much as our frenzied fans want to see them there once more! Thanks to the following "Returning Legends" for TAKII 16 ~Cho-ho-ho-cobo~, we'll be able to celebrate this iconic season in true "extreme" style unlike any other festival/con around:
D-chan is a Japanese-mixed male & professional Japanese/Korean vocal musician born on the 1st day of spring, March 20th, 1985. He has been singing since he was a lil boy, with his 1st recording being when he was in kindergarten at Manoa Elementary School in Havertown, PA, singing "10 Little Indians" ^_^. Since then, D-chan has moved on to become a major member of all the top vocal groups his academic career had to offer, which he has also been successful in as an adult. Among other milestones in his young vocal career, D-chan sang on the opening day of The Kimmel Center Of The Performing Arts in Philadelphia, PA, won various district & region-wide vocal festivals, & aided his vocal groups to gain top honors in vocal adjudications up & down the East Coast. He is also the 1 of the youngest-entering members ever of the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus & their auditioned group, Brotherly Love, of which he has been a member since 2003. D-chan also has various singles & 2 demo albums ("Watashi Wa...." & "Ai no Chikara") to his credit, all of which are available for purchase at PDNMZ Shoppe X-Perience. As of 2013, D-chan will have performed multiple times on NBC's "10 Show @ 11am" (as a part of Brotherly Love) in Philadelphia, PA, at T-Mode 2008 in Arlington, VA, the GALA 2008 Festival in Miami, FL, & many other venues & events in multiple capacities, including the innovatively-extreme TAKII World Tour. Further underscoring his commitment to causes greater than his own self interest, D-chan announced at the conclusion of TAKII 14 ~New Year's Evolution~ on December 29th, 2012 that he would be running for Upper Darby School Board to the cheers & adoration of TAKII fans in attendance & worldwide (in a bid to become Upper Darby, PA's youngest & 1st openly gay School Board member on a platform that includes LGBT youth tolerance & anti-bullying). Making a lasting influential impression on people around the world, D-chan's emotive 16th season guest performance at TAKII is sure to touch you: mind, body, & soul.
In the Battle Of Gettysburg, military scientists smuggled a previously deceased Burlesque dancer into a lab & worked on her for 150 years. The goal: to create a being who would be too hot to handle. The result: [Ai] (really known as Carmen Lugo, currently residing in New Jersey)! There are also rumors circulating that she's a 24-year old Hispanic born in New York City, but that's only what the man wants you to believe (LOL). Presently, [Ai] works as a performer, singer, & dance instructor who has experience in multiple interpretations. She is also a former "TAKII Show" Champion (from TAKII 2 ~Rebirth~) & cosplay masquerade winner. [Ai] is also known for her comedic & artful portrayl of Mie as 1/2 of the J-Pop Retro group, Pink Lady (in both TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ & TAKII 5 ~Shin Seiki (Neon Genesis)~). At recent TAKII appearances (TAKII 9 ~Yume Ga Kanau~ & TAKII 10 ~Family Reunion~), she took TAKII fanatics through a candid exploration of what it really means to love & earned everyone's continued adoration & respect as a result. Returning for TAKII 16 ~Cho-ho-ho-cobo~, she will be 1 of our featured performers for the "Makenai Benefit Concert", promising an exhibition of vocal excellence that is sure to be 1 that no one will forget!
The legend of HadoukenChicken! is a story that is known by few & told by even fewer. In the underbelly of a local dining hall, an assassin was contracted to eliminate his target: a savage wolf that terrorized a local eatery. Armed with nothing more than a handful of chocobo nuggets, the assassin waged war against his rival, only to be stopped by a hollow & a red haired echidna. The duo proposed an offer of epic proportions to the 2 rivals: drop their fruitless skirmish & join them in the epic quest to scour the world with them for treasure & monster hunting. The 2 agreed & with the addition of a cat-human, a camera-wielding gladiator, & a sensei of the industrial arts, the posse was blessed with the name given to them by the gods of music: HadoukenChicken!!
Returning to the hallowed grounds of TAKII once again, HadoukenChicken! has made it their life's goal to spread their message the only way they know how: playing loud & rocking out! Using air instruments gifted to them by the gods, they bring the energy of Japanese Rock music & the randomness that only the most hardcore otaku can withstand. Expect the unexpected! Be prepared to lose control!! Bring a lunch because you probably will get hungry!!! The wheels of fate are turning once HadoukenChicken! storms the stage!!!!!
(in her own words ^_^) Hajimemashite, minna-san! My name is Poisyn LaRue (formerly known as Sinh Synthetik) (birthname Cindy Taylor). I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1986, but have traveled alot. New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Flordia, Texas, Califonia, Florida & even Canada were some of the many places that I called "home"! I took to art as soon as I was able to hold a crayon. Throughout my childhood, I was able to always have an outlet for my creative talent, partially because both of my parents are artistically inclined in thier own way. It was more common to find me bent over my desk with a sketch pad than in front of the television. Years of artistic expression made it clear that my life would be centered upon my passion for art. After high school, I attended the Katherine Gibbs School, eventually obtaining an Associates Degree in Visual Communications. It was then that I discovered my true love, photography, & desided to make the world in front of my FujiFilm S5200 my canvas.
When in school I helped to run the video game club (I'm a dork, guilty as charged). I also work alot of different festivals & conventions in the Greater Philadelphia area. I am the owner of Obscura Photography & Synthetik Napalm Designs (formerly Obscura Photography & Design). I am also a member and web mistress of SynthAngel Studios. I am often a guest "reporter" for AnimeJam Sessions & voluteer for other Internet organizations sporadically. Currently, I am attending the Community College Of Philadelphia. I live in Philadelphia (mostly) with my daughter (AnyaBug), a wonderful guinea pig (Ernie), & a cat (Zero).
I've been a long-time fan of The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational & informally volunteered for "the world's most extreme Asian culture fusion festival" in a variety of capacities. However, when D-chan approached me & asked if I would share my undiscovered vocal talents with TAKII fanatics for the 1st time at TAKII 9 ~Yume Ga Kanau (Dreams Come True)~, I couldn't have been happier! Among other things, TAKII was & is always highly-regarded for its lovely blend of international & home-grown guests & performers. As if TAKII 10 ~Family Reunion~ wasn't enough of a tear-jerker performance, TAKII 16 ~Cho-ho-ho-cobo~ seems like it will be just as emotional (after being away from the TAKII stage for a few seasons & recently moving back to my old Philly stomping ground)! I love the TAKII Family more than words could ever experess....& I am glad to finally be back HOME.
Prior to her involvement with TAKII, Dokudel (known as Alicia Lugo & sister of the infamous [Ai]) started on her path to cosplay greatness by making her 1st cosplay outfit in 1998 & subsequently attending her 1st convention in 2001. Over 80 costumes & countless hours later, Dokudel has realized just how much of a passion cosplaying is in her life & how it can spread so much joy in the lives of others. As a result of her adoration for this artform, she has opened up her own cosplay commission business (Cosplay Forever), volunteered for countless other organizations in a cosplay-related capacity (including Shikkaricon, among others), & hosted cosplay panels at some of the 20+ conventions she has attended over the past 9 years. A young cosplay aficionado in her own right, Dokudel made her 1st waves with The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational at TAKII 2 ~Rebirth~'s Asian Karaoke Idol show, where she took 2nd place. Since then, she has been a dedicated TAKII dealer & has become the fusion festival's official cosplay coordinator & Cosplay Battle Royale hostess with the mostest ^_^. While she is always in transit between her residence in New Jersey & other appearances she makes for some of the biggest names in anime & manga around, rest assured that she will be at The Rotunda in Philadelphia, PA in time for TAKII 16 ~Cho-ho-ho-cobo~!
